WHAT IS THE 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS PROGRAM?
The 4-H Shooting Sports program is a hands-on educational program that teaches young people the safe and responsible use of firearms and archery equipment. The program covers the fundamental skills of firing archery equipment, muzzle-loading firearms, pistols, rifles, and shotguns. The Shooting Sports program uses the skills and disciplines of shooting to assist young people and their leaders in attaining knowledge and developing essential life skills.
The Indiana 4-H Shooting Sports program is based upon the National 4-H Shooting Sports guidelines, which is recognized as a leader in firearms training. It has well-demonstrated national impact on approximately 100,000 young people and more than 10,000 volunteer leaders. With approximately 200 million firearms in the United States today, the 4-H Shooting Sports program provides the opportunity to develop firearm safety for our youth.
